Niche Marketing Guide
Your Guide To A Profitable Niche Business
Niche marketing is one of the most profitable things you can do online. It is a simple process that can be duplicated again and again, yet allows you to express your message in many different ways.
While niche marketing is often spoken of as a cohesive practice, it is actually more of a general heading covering many different approaches and methods. Some people might use small one or two page mini sites that are really just sales letters. Others like to create niche blogs that continually add new information about their niche in a time sensitive layout. Still others create large portals or directories devoted to a single niche topic.
So there are many ways to present your marketing message to your niche. Some of these methods will work better for some niches, while others may not do as well for the same niche. It is always a good practice to do some testing to find out which method will work best for your niche marketing business.
The Niche Explorer Niche Marketing Guide will give you the information and tools you need to successfully build your own niche marketing business.
The Niche Business Building Blocks
There are five basic Niche Marketing building blocks that I'm going to cover. Each block builds a part of the foundation for your business. They are the essential things that you must get right to succeed.
Your Niche Market
The first thing you must have to build a real niche business is a niche market. Without a market to promote to, obviously you aren't going to sell much. The basic principle of a niche market is that it is a smaller, focused market with a specific, passionate interest in common.
Many people get confused here and base their niche on a product or a key phrase. While it is entirely possible to make some money with either of these approaches, you and I are interested in building a niche business, not simply making a little spending cash. To build a niche business requires that we look beyond the product or the key phrase and base our niche on the people that make up it's market.
Certainly we can use products and key phrases to seek out these markets, but once we've found them, we must go beyond those things and concentrate on the people themselves.
Develop Your Niche Products
Please note that I said products, plural. Not product, singular. A product is not a business, it's a product. If we are going to build a true niche business, we must have more than one product to offer to our niche market.
Initially, and then occasionally, these products do not have to be our own. We can absolutely make use of other peoples products and sell them through joint ventures, affiliate programs, buying the rights to them or other arrangements.
Eventually, though you will want to add your own unique products to the mix. Having your own products gives you more control over the entire process, and over your business. it gives you more freedom in your marketing approach. It also makes your own personal brand more valuable and recognizable within the niche you are marketing to.
Having your own product that people recognize will even increase your sales of other peoples products because you have now become an expert source in the niche. If you have your own product, people will be more likely to believe that you can judge the merit of someone else's product, so your recommendation carries more weight with them.
Build Your Niche Site
Your niche site is critical to your success. It can take many forms and perform many tasks for you from making the initial contact with your target niche, to making the final sale to your niche customers.
While there are many different ways to build a niche site, it must do one of two things. Joe Vitalle, in his Hypnotic Marketing Course says that there are two types of Hypnotic websites;
- Deeply information-oriented, resource websites
- Instant sales closing websites.
As you will see as you go through the niche sites section of this guide, all niche sites fall in one of these two categories.
There really just isn't much point in designing a niche site that is not one of these two types. Even if making money is not your reason for running a niche site, you will get more of whatever it is you want by following these principles.
There are however a couple of supporting site types that we will build. These are not real "niche sites" in the sense that we are using the word here. Their main purpose is to capture, filter and then funnel traffic to the niche sites we build to generate sales.
Build Your Niche List
Your niche list is the lifeblood of your niche business. This list, ultimately, will make the difference between having an internet job and having a real niche marketing business.
Your list represents the stored value you have created by forming a relationship with people in your niche market. If you lose your products, if you lose your website, if you lose your search engine rankings, you can still come back to this list of people with a passionate interest in your niche and make money from it directly, or use it to rebuild.
I can not stress the importance of this enough. I ran a niche blog network for years and made steady money from it, but I never built lists from the people visiting those blogs and buying those products. One day a hacker got into my network and took the whole thing down.
My income was gone overnight, and without a list, I could not recontact any of the people who had come through those blogs through all that time. It was over and I had to start back in from scratch.
Please, if you get nothing else from this, learn from that mistake. Build customer relationships and store the value of those relationships in customer lists.
Your Niche promotions
So, once you have your niche market selected, your niche products lined up, your niche website ready to go and a method for building your niche customer list, it's time to let them know about it.
Now you have to promote your niche business. Don't worry, it's not as hard or as bad as it sounds. We won't spend a lot of time looking at complicated formulas and plotting charts. We are going to pursue our promotional efforts in ways that are both effective and fun!
